Memoir
“Emily, I am going to tell you a story,” the Angela, the grandmother, said. Emily ran to her and sat on her lap. “I will tell you a story of my childhood.”
It all started with Angela walking home from school. Angela was usually a very good kid till recently. She was trusted by her parents until she made the big mistake of lying.
Angela pulled out her phone and called her parents. “Hey, mom?” she asked.
“Yes? Honey,” Christina asked with a very annoyed voice. “What do you want?”
“I’m heading to Isabelle’s house today.”
“I’m fine with that. Stay safe on the road.”
“I will.”
Angela hung up. She started going to Ryan’s house. Ryan opened the door when she got there. They had been hanging out since last year. They talked, ate, and watched movies. It was nine o’ clock when Angela got home.
Both of her parents were sitting at the table. “Angela,” her mother said. “Where did you go?”
“I went over to Isabelle’s.” replied Angela.
“Are you sure?” asked Christina. Angela’s face started to redden. “I called them and they said you never went over. Why did you have to lie? Tell me where did you go?”
“I… I went over to Ryan’s. If I told you where I went you would have never let me go.”
“I would have if you didn’t lie to me.”
“You are grounded for two months. Go to your room.”
Angela walked slowly to her room. She sat on her bed and though about what she did wrong.
“Emily, did you learn a lesson today?” asked Angela.
“Yes grandma, I did,” replies Emily.
